Peg Stability Methodology

Our peg stability analysis tracks how closely stablecoins maintain their intended value pegs. For most stablecoins, this is a 1:1 peg with the US Dollar.

Key Metrics:

  • Current Deviation: The absolute percentage difference between the current price and the $1 peg.
  • Maximum Deviation: The highest absolute deviation from the peg in the last 30 days.
  • Average Deviation: The mean absolute deviation from the peg over the last 30 days.
  • Volatility Score: A composite score reflecting both the magnitude and frequency of price deviations.

Stability Ratings:

  • Strong Peg (≤0.1%): Minimal deviation, excellent stability
  • Stable (0.1% - 0.5%): Minor fluctuations within acceptable range
  • Minor Deviation (0.5% - 1%): Noticeable but not concerning deviation
  • Unstable (1% - 5%): Significant deviation, potential concerns
  • Broken Peg (>5%): Severe deviation, peg integrity compromised
